Saints enjoy perfect Pre Season!

Dean Jones' Southampton team have breezed through their Pre Season in quite impressive fashion.

Cheltenham 0-1 Southampton

After a slow start, they edged out a suprisingly tough opening match away at Cheltenham. With new signing Rickie Lambert providing a stunner on 74 minutes gone.

AFC Bournemouth 0-3 Southampton

Next on the schedule was a challenging looking away fixture at local rivals AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court. However challenging though, the new Saints team soared to Victory, and produced an impressive 3 nil win against the Cherries. With hopefully the first of many, as new signing from Nottingham Forest Nathan Tyson getting in and amongst the goals.

Tyson shows his quality at Bournemouth.

Totton 0-6 Southampton

Saints really showed their quality by putting 6 past Non-league side Totton. Most notably though, young Southampton striker Matthew Paterson scored 4 goals!

Stenhousemuir 2-3 Southampton

Southampton had to come from behind to deliver a decent 3-2 away win at Scottish-Side Stenhousemuir. With Rickie Lambert again, getting on the scoresheet and producing a solid performance.

Lambert saves the day again as he opens the scoring for Saints in Scotland.

Northampton 1-4 Southampton

Southampton walked over Northampton in the end and showed why they're in the League above them. With Polish striker Marek Saganowski showing great composure and scoring for The Saints.

Eastleigh 0-4 Southampton

Southampton beat another local rival easily to produce a solid display at The Silverlake Stadium. Adam Lallana scoring a real corker as Southampton probably produced their best move of the match. Marek Saganowski also bagging a wonderful hatrick!

Delight as Adam Lallana bags his first of Pre Season.

Salisbury 0 - 5 Southampton

Saints finished their Pre Season Calendar in style as they hammered Conference side Salisbury away 5 nil. On-loan Forward Papa Waigo scoring perhaps, a suprise hatrick as he impressed the Saints faithful!

Hatrick hero - Papa Waigo arrives with a bang!

Dean Jones shared his thoughts as Pre Season finished -"I am happy with the lads and how they have got the results on the road. Some will say it was partly down to the low quality opposition we've faced, but I believe it's a good start."

Jones' attention is now immedietly turned to the Coca-Cola League 1 opener against last season's play-off contenders Millwall and he had this to say about it -" This will be a game which we will be expected to win, but we can't go underestimating Millwall as they are one of the top teams in this league and we must go at them from the start."

Southampton face a tough test in the League this year as the promotion hopefuls will start the league on minus -10 points as punishment for entering Administration last Season which was followed by relegation from the Championship.
