I have already begun planning my formation and for now at least, I think I am going to use the 4-3-3 formation!
- Now the tactics behind this formation is this...
Defence...
The Wing backs bomb up and down the wings, providing width and good support to start a counter-attack off whilst also being there to protect the flanks.
My 2 Centre-Backs will hopefully be solid. Rahdi Jaidi has spent many years in the Premiership, he is big, strong and vastly experienced!
The Goal Keeper will be a Sweeper GK, providing a decent last line of defence.
Midfield...
I am lucky because I have very good players who can do a great job in the middle of the pitch such as Dean Hammond, Morgan Schneiderlin and Paul Wotton (Although Wotton has been out-of-favour with the club until I have arrived! - Hopefully he can prove me right to have put faith in him. :P)
So what I have going on right now is that Dean Hammond is my Ball winner, Schneiderlin has great passing ability and creativity with Adam Lallana joining in on the attack.
Hammond - A Ball winner role to play.
Forwards...
Now to the Forwards! First off I have the wonderful Rickie Lambert in my ranks, he will be my target man. With Saganowski running off of him and David Connolly being my opponent's 'thorn-in-their-side! :D)
Estimated top 5 performers in the team -
1-Rickie Lambert - We actually just signed this guy for £1.1 Million which for a league one side, is a huge amount of money for one player! He is a proven goal scorer in league one with many championship clubs racing against us to sign him, but we got there first :P. He is a great free kick taker and peno taker! Great strength for target man, and has amazing finishing. I think he will be my best player!
2-Marek Saganowski - Experienced Forward, came to Southampton with a BANG a few years ago, ever since has struggled for goals but definatly has the ability to get 20+ goals in this league. Let's see!
3-Adam Lallana - Destined for greatness this one! Still improving at only 21, similer to Schneiderlin but more versitile in that he can play as CM, AM, Winger, and Striker. Probably playmaker if I end up using one!
4-Morgan Schneiderlin - Young, creative, always improving, great passer and can hopefully score the odd screamer too! - I have high hopes. It's fair to say that he didn't really impress much last season in the Championship for us and this looks like it will be 'make or break' for Morgan's Southampton Journey this season! :)
Crunch time - Morgan's time to shine.
5-Rahdi Jaidi - This guy is solid. He's experienced at both club level and international level with Tunisia! Lacks speed but hopefully will make up for that with his great reading of the game! Basically, he's done it all.

Been there, done that! - World Cup 2006, Jaidi salvages a valuable point in Tunisia's opening fixture!
And finally...Areas in which I may improve on...
Wing Back
In order to get the best out of this 4-3-3 system I want to use, it's best if I have good attacking wing backs capable of dribbling past the opposition and using pace. Unfortunatly Graeme Murty, former Reading Captain doesn't look to be that man. I will be taking a serious look into a new Wing Back to fit my needs.
Centre Back
I may need a new Centre Back as Trotman and Jaidi are too alike, I prefer a Big Strong Centre back with a maybe shorter Centre Back with good reading of the game and good acceleration and pace.
New Striker
Simply for cover and because young Matt Paterson I dont think is quite ready just yet, I should look into getting a new striker as competition in that area is always a good thing.
Out...
I will also try to sell a few players who arent in my plans, such as Anthony Pulis and Jamie White.
So check back to see how I get on! My next post will be all about my pre season and who I managed to bring in and shift out! Thanks for reading and please feel free to comment! Thanks!
