Huddersfield lose to impressive Saints!

Huddersfield 1-3 Southampton - Coca-Cola League 1.

Saturday 15th August, 2009

Attendance - 17,372

Southampton made it 3 wins in a row as they killed off League 1 Rivals Hudderfield Town. However it wasn't all plain sailing for The Saints as they got off to a nightmare start when Anthony Pilkington headed-in Maric's cross down the left on just 4 minutes into the match.

Game on! - Anthony Pilkington heads home for Huddersfield Town.

Southampton eventually pulled their socks up though, as new Saints striker Nathan Tyson showed a cool head and got on the end of Rickie Lambert's first-time pass into Huddersfield's 6-yard-box 25 minutes later.

Tyson bags his second of the Season in a Saints shirt.

Southampton really got a foot in the door from then on in and started to dictate the game. This showed just before the half-time break as Irish striker David Connolly was set up by 'man of the moment' Rickie Lambert and finished comfortably.

David Connolly scores his first to take Saints into a well deserved half-time lead.

Interestingly though, Huddersfield Boss Lee Clark made 2 changes at half-time by taking goal-provider Goran Maric and Gary Roberts off for Robbie Simpson and on-loan Manchester United striker Danny Drinkwater to spark a response from his trailing team.

Unfortunatly for Huddersfield though, there was to be no such response and on 85 minutes, former Ivory-Coast Centre-back Idrissa Keita found himself with a free header from Dan Harding's corner and wrapped up the win for the visitors.

Game over - Keita seals win.

Here's how they lined up...

  5. eey... i told i will come check your site and i did about a dozen times but i kept shoeing me your first post when i got here so i taught you didn't keep writing...

nevertheless i'd like to say that your blog is something different and i like that, especially the thing with the photos :)

the realism as well should be prised, you didn't go buying 15+ players as a lot of others would... keep it up!

  6. Andy, cheers mate, I'm not too sure atm...I'd love to carry on but in the long-run it'll take a long time and for u guys reading it, it could be in danger of becoming a little repetitive...I mean if I'm still in league 1 in 2 weeks time or so everyone will be like "get to the championship already!" lol but yeah...not too sure what I'll do atm!

  7. Btw I think u shud stick out with Huddersfield, try to pick up some great bargains, maybe sell them on in january, making a profit! but makesure u keep their wages down! also I think maybe u cud wait for a new invester to come into Hudderfield and buy them out, therefore getting u money!

  8. thanks mcgeady! Great to see u coming back! (must be doing something right! hehe :D) and thanks, it's hard work and time consuming for what it is, but probably worth it! I might just do the full match reports for 1 match from 1 month in my game, and just a quick report with maybe one of no pics of the game for the other matches in that month, if that makes sense! lol

  9. heh
i agree that it would be probably impossible and maybe even boring after some time (both for you and for us)for you to do a match report for every match you play... but one in every 2-3 months or so would do(with the pictures :D)and maybe just giving the fixture list and the table... it wouldn't take up too much time then and would remain interesting... just a thought...
